Thank you for making Rebuilding Day 2011 in Lowell a success!

On behalf of the homeowners and Rebuilding Together Lowell’s board of directors I
would like to say “Thank you” to everyone who helped make Rebuilding Day 2011 so fantastic.

Each of you where part of a larger picture, more than just the house you worked on. Rebuilding
Together is a national nonprofit with a network of more than 200 affiliates across the United States
- rehabbing over 4000 low income homes on Saturday! RT Lowell is one of the smaller affiliates, on
Saturday across the city we worked on 5 houses with the about 130 volunteers! Home repairs ranged
from roof work, updated and handicapped bathroom accommodations, new energy efficient appliances,
yard work, new doors as well as new entry stairs and railings and repaired porch for some homes.

One homeowner, an 82 year old veteran was amazed that so many people came to his home to
do so many projects. The man lives with his sister and she is older than him by a few years so repairs are

harder for them to manage. This homeowner received a bathroom remodel that made the entire room
easier for him due to new handicap railings around the toilet and tub. Another homeowner, who for the
last 20 plus years has helped everyone in her neighborhood, and has come across hard times with her
husband who is suffering from dementia was beyond words at the repair crew that arrived at her home
Saturday. This home received plenty of yard work, roof repairs, a new front deck and safe steps at both
the front and rear doors.

Over the next week or so we have a handicap ramp being installed at one home while two
other homes will have roof repairs completed and finally a set of cement stairs will be poured at one of
Saturday’s site making this year one of the best years for homeowners across the city of Lowell.

Thanks to all the House Captains and House Directors (Black T-Shirts...) for the houses you
worked on and co-coordinating 20 - 50+ people, most of whom were unknown with a wide array of skill
set’s teaching some new skills to rehab not only these houses but maybe even yours one day.

Thank you also goes to the crew at command central and the crews at both Home Depot and
the storage shed who fought across the city traffic to deliver last minute orders to houses in the thick
Saturday traffic.

Thank you also goes out to Trolley Pizza, Milan pizza and Domino’s pizza for not only their hard
word making lunch for so many houses , but making sure that all the pizzas were ready for pick-up and
delivery to each of the houses in need. Without the aid you provided lunch would have been hard.

RT Lowell was also fortunate enough to receive grants from CDBG, LDFC, Trinity EMS, Joseph P
Donohue Charitable Foundation, Jeanne D'arc Credit Union and Eastern Bank, Arbela Mutual INS, Christ
Church United, Lowell, James L. Cooney Ins. Agency inc. and Mary Kirwin.

I also want to take this opportunity to recognize the Board of Directors, and their families
who take a take a back seat when the work begins in early September, meeting monthly to make this
one day happen...from applications, to house visits, scopes of work, materials lists, ordering supplies
and materials, t-shirts, cleaning supplies, and making sure they get to the house on time, skilled
contractors , fundraising, accounting, donations, to volunteer coordination and making sure the right
groups are assigned to the houses best meeting their skill set, coordinating and providing food and
drinks for the events and delivering them as well ...this list also goes on...

Special Thanks to the Mayor, City Manager, CDBG Team and the City of Lowell for all their support
throughout the year!

Every one of us took away something different from this day and this is what Rebuilding Together is all
about!

On behalf of the Board of Directors of Rebuilding Together Lowell MA., we want to Thank You again
for helping to improve the quality of life for these 9 Homeowners their families, neighborhoods and
especially our City of Lowell MA. !

We couldn't do this without you - Hope to see you all again next year!
